But a 50 SAR offer may be a basic indoor wash, and a cheap refill may skip the leak test, so here’s how to compare AC service prices in Saihat, Qatif and Dammam before you pay.

The low end usually means the smallest unit, simplest job and easiest access. Check whether prices are per unit and include 15% VAT.
What changes the price of AC servicing?
Most of the gap between quotes comes down to six factors:
- Unit size. Capacity is quoted in tons or BTU (one ton is 12,000 BTU). Bigger units take longer to clean and hold more gas; one provider charges about 120–150 SAR to clean a 1-ton AC and 250–300 SAR for a 3-ton AC.
- Split or window. Advertised window-AC prices top out lower than split prices.
- Refrigerant. R-410A still dominates new ACs in Saudi Arabia, R-32 appears on some newer models and older units use R-22. The gas affects the price, and a unit must only get the refrigerant on its nameplate.
- Access. An outdoor unit on a roof, high on a façade or in a narrow light-well takes more time and equipment.
- Parts. A capacitor, fan motor or control board adds part and fitting costs.

How to compare quotes: a ‘what’s included’ checklist
Ask each provider for an itemised quote, ideally in writing, and check:

Red flags before you pay
- Teaser prices, then add-ons at the door. Cleaning offers at 35–50 SAR usually cover a basic indoor wash; fine if that’s all you need, but confirm the scope first.
- A refill with no pressure test or leak check. Refrigerant isn’t used up in a sealed loop, and the US EPA advises repairing leaks rather than repeatedly topping up. Learn the signs your AC is low on gas.
- ‘The gas just ran out.’ It doesn’t in a healthy system, so ask where the leak is.
- No vacuum after installation or relocation. Daikin’s installation manual warns that air or foreign matter in the circuit causes abnormal pressure rise.
- Venting gas during removal. Saudi Arabia’s executive regulation on ozone-depleting substances and HFCs requires technicians to recover refrigerant, not release it.
- ‘Any gas will do.’ Only the refrigerant on the nameplate, and never mixed.
- Parts swapped without a clear diagnosis. Ask what failed and why, and to see the old part.
How to save on AC maintenance
- Service before summer. Dammam’s average daily high is around 44–45°C from June to August, and the dusty shamal usually blows from late May to mid-August. A spring check catches small faults before the unit runs flat out.
- Book every unit in one visit. Multi-unit packages are common, so ask for one total price.

- Fix the leak once. Yearly top-ups can cost more over time than one proper repair.
When to call a technician
Book a visit if you notice:
- Weak cooling even with a clean filter and the right mode and set temperature.
- Ice on the pipes (switch cooling off, run the fan only and don’t chip the ice) or hissing near the joints.
- Water dripping from the indoor unit.
- An outdoor unit that hums while its fan won’t spin, or a burning smell.
- An error code on the display.
Never open the unit to check the capacitor yourself: it can hold a high-voltage charge even with the power off, and refrigerant work is for qualified technicians only.

What is the difference between an indoor-only AC wash and an indoor and outdoor clean?
An indoor-only wash covers the unit inside the room and may be little more than the filters and front panel. A full clean adds the evaporator coil, blower wheel, drain line and the outdoor condenser, and is the better choice before summer or after a whole dusty season without cleaning.
Will a gas refill always fix weak cooling?
No. Weak cooling can come from a dirty filter, a blocked outdoor unit, a failed capacitor or fan, or an AC that is too small for the room. Pressure should be measured first, and gas added only once a shortage is confirmed and its cause repaired.
